Basic SEO Learn How to Optimize a Page

Google is all about good user experience. Optimize your web page to let SEO bots know what your website is about and that it provides a good user experience. SEO is important because it puts you in front of your customers. Click here to learn more about optimization and why you need it.

There are many ways to SEO-optimize your website to rank higher in Google’s search engine. Here, we look at some of the basic ones you should consider.

Optimizing Page Content:

For creating SEO-friendly content, the primary factor is finding the proper keywords and placing them in particular areas.

Let’s assume you’ve chosen your target audience buyer persona. Do keyword research to discover keywords that your audience uses to find content online.

You can then use these keywords to define your content appropriately so Search Engine bots can understand your content and rank you based on that.

No matter what niche you are in, placing them in proper places on a web page can significantly help your page rank:

  • Page Title
  • URL
  • H1 tag
  • First Paragraph of Content
  • Meta Description
  • Image File Names
  • Image Alt tags

But avoid keyword stuffing, targeting so many keywords to manipulate rank. Google is all about user experiences, and your site may get penalized for doing this.

Tip: Writing catchy, descriptive titles with unique content will make your audience stay on your website longer. It’s strategically important for website ranking.

Optimize Page’s Mobile Version:

Audiences are comfortable with mobile devices now more than ever. And more than half of Google’s search traffic in this world uses mobile for searching content.

Historically, Google used the desktop version of the page to analyze and index a page, but since 2019, they switched to a mobile-first indexing approach

So, if your website isn’t mobile-friendly, it will negatively affect your ranking.

Optimize Page Speed:

Page speed means the load time of web pages or content. Be aware of what you put on a page. For example, unnecessary code and large images can affect load times significantly. Imagine having multiple big pictures on a webpage.

When a user requests the page, it will take time to load these photos on their devices. Unnecessary code and overuse of plugins can slow your web page speed. It’s good to go over the codebase periodically to clean up unnecessary code.

For images, .webp is a popular alternative to .jpg, jpeg or .png as it provides the same image quality with smaller file sizes. Consider implementing Lazy Loading Images and Server-side Page Caching on your web pages to help improve load time.

Links play a vital part in building domain authority. Joining your site pages shows web search tools that your content is thorough. And if different sites connect to your content, it confirms that position.

You should be aware of three sorts of links that search calculations assess: internal links, external links, and backlinks.

  • Internal Links: linking other pages on the same website
  • External Links: linking pages on a different website
  • Backlinks: Like External Links, but when others link your website from their website.

Use long-tail keywords:

Long-tail keywords are queries that target lower competitive search volume but can have a vast total search volume as a group.

For example, take the long-tail keyword “how to make my husband lose weight.” It is significantly more effective than “how to lose weight” and we recommend using one or two long-tail keywords per content.

Conclusion:

We’ve covered the basics of optimizing your website like making it mobile-friendly, adding content links, and using long-tail keywords.
